Update: My entire mindset shifted after 6 weeks working from a hostel in Medellin instead of a private Airbnb
I went from hiding in my room all day to actually getting work done at the common table, and my output jumped from 3 tasks a day to 8. Has anyone else noticed that being around other people, even strangers, keeps you way more focused than total silence?
Spent 3 months at a hostel in Lisbon back in 2022 and had the exact same thing happen. We had this long wooden table in the kitchen and I'd post up there with my laptop every morning, and just hearing other people typing and making coffee kept me locked in for hours. At my own place I'd get maybe 4 tasks done before I started scrolling or cleaning my room for no reason. Something about having people around, even if nobody is talking to you, makes you feel weird about slacking off. I still book hostels with coworking spaces now just for that.
