Wifi went down during a client call in a Bali coworking space and I had to finish the pitch using my phone hotspot on a bench outside
Lost a $500 project because I couldn't hear the client over a scooter parade and they said the recording was too garbled to salvage. Has anyone else dealt with internet failure while pitching a big client?

Nah but honestly that's on you for not having a backup plan. Bali coworking spaces are known for spotty wifi, it's not some hidden secret. You could have recorded the pitch locally on your laptop so even if the connection dropped you'd have a clean file to send after. Or at least tested the audio quality of your hotspot before jumping on a call with a $500 client. A scooter parade is loud but you picked the bench spot, not the universe. Sell it as a "funny behind the scenes story" in your follow up email instead of blaming the internet. Last time my wifi died mid-call I just sent a quick text saying "looks like my connection is struggling, let me wrap up and call you back in 5 minutes from a stable line." Client respected the honesty and we closed the deal.

Exactly, I've started keeping a local recording of every call running just in case, saved my ass more than once.

Ha, I gotta push back on @shane170 a little - sometimes the universe just throws a scooter parade at you.
