Bought a $40 digital angle finder in 2019, and my miter saw hasn't lied to me since
Back when I started trimming out my own house in 2019, I was eyeballing every cut and blaming the saw when things didn't line up. My dad handed me his old sliding bevel and a speed square, and I used those for years because that's what he learned from his dad. Then I dropped $40 on a cheap digital angle finder at a hardware store in Boise, mostly because I was tired of guessing on crown molding. First baseboard run I did with it, every inside corner met clean on the first try, and I actually stood there checking it twice because that never happened before. The bevel and square still live in my pouch, but that little plastic thing gets reached for way more. Anyone else got a cheap tool that quietly took over a job you'd been doing the hard way for years?

Read a thread on a woodworking forum a while back where a guy said the same thing about those cheap digital angle finders, that once he started using one on trim jobs he stopped second guessing every cut. My neighbor does finish carpentry and he told me he keeps two in his truck because he's lost one before and refused to go back to eyeballing corners. What got me was how fast it turned into a habit for you, like the bevel and square are still there but your hand just goes to the new thing first. That happened to me with a laser level of all things, cost me like 30 bucks and now I use it for everything from hanging pictures to setting shelves. Funny how a small cheap tool can fix a problem you carried for years without even thinking about it. Sounds like the 40 bucks paid for itself on that first baseboard run alone.
