Cut a notch in my workbench to hold clamps upside down and it's a game changer

I got sick of tripping over bar clamps on the floor of my garage in Portland. So I took a jigsaw and cut a few 2-inch wide slots into the front edge of my workbench top. Now I just drop the clamps in upside down with the jaws open and they hang there ready to grab. Has anyone else tried a weird bench mod that turned out way better than expected?

Not really, this is one of those things that looks small but saves your back and sanity every single day. I did something similar on my shop bench with a couple of 1x4 slots for my pipe clamps and it honestly changed how I work in there. No more bending down to grab a clamp off the floor or stepping over them while trying to hold a panel together. Plus they stay clean and dry instead of sitting in whatever sawdust or moisture is on the ground. If you've never tried hanging clamps upside down off a bench edge you don't realize how much time you waste fiddling with them on the floor.

Bit much for a clamp holder, no?

Ha! Yeah but once you start hanging clamps you never go back.
