I finally stopped using plywood for my shop workbench

Spent 6 hours building a workbench from 3/4 inch plywood last month and it already has a sag in the middle from my router table. Read a post on here about using solid core door slabs instead and grabbed one from the habitat restore for $25. Anyone else switch materials after getting fed up with something taking way too long the first time?

That solid core door tip changed my whole approach. Stealing it.

You know what, that solid core door trick really is something else. I did the same thing for my office, and it cut out the TV noise from the living room completely. I even put one on the bedroom when my husband started snoring louder than usual, and it worked better than any sound machine we tried. It's funny how something as simple as a heavier door can make such a big difference.

Stealing it" - yeah I used to think spending on doors was a waste but @emma_jones you convinced me. I put a solid core door in my home office and it actually blocks out my kid's screaming during video calls. Total game changer for my work from home setup.
