I spent $1,200 on a laser level and it completely changed my framing work

Used to do everything with a spirit level and string lines. Took forever and still ended up with corners that were slightly off. Picked up a self-leveling rotary laser from Bosch. First time I used it on a shed foundation I did the whole layout in under an hour. Saved me on a 12x16 project last month. Anyone else find one tool that made them rethink how they build?

Switched to a Bosch rotary laser myself last year and it is a COMPLETE game changer. Did a whole basement layout in like 20 minutes what used to take me half a day. Never going back to string lines.

Had a buddy who does foundations swear by his laser level for years. He told me about this one time he was marking out a big garage slab and the old string line method left him with a 2 inch gap on one side. He ripped out the stakes, pulled out his rotary laser, and had everything square in 45 minutes. Now he won't touch a spirit level for layouts. Says it's like going from a flip phone to a smart phone.

Is that really a fair comparison though?
