I stopped using drill guides after a job in Austin last fall

Was installing cabinet hardware for a client and the $40 drill guide kept slipping on the jig, ended up with 3 holes off by 2mm. Ditched it halfway through and went back to marking by hand with a square, came out way better. Anyone else find those magnetic guides more trouble than they're worth?

A 2mm miss isn't the end of the world" unless you're the one staring at it every day... maybe the real issue is we've gotten too comfortable with gadgets that claim to do our thinking for us.

Sounds like you just got a bad one or didn't have it set up tight enough. A 2mm miss isn't the end of the world for cabinet hardware.
