My scrap bin hit 500 pounds of offcuts and a guy at the Rockford lumber yard made me rethink the whole thing
I finally weighed my scrap bin last Saturday and it came to 500 pounds of cutoffs I'd been saving for "someday" projects. That felt crazy to me because I've only been building in my garage for about 2 years and most of it is plywood and 2x4 ends under 8 inches. A guy at the lumber yard in Rockford asked what I was saving it for and I honestly couldn't answer him. Now I'm sorting it into burn pile vs. actually usable, and I've already filled a trash can with pieces too small to do anything with. What's your cutoff point for keeping a scrap, like a certain length or does it depend on the wood?
