Used a cheap chalk line for years and always ended up with crooked shelves. Picked up a self-leveling green beam model for around $50 and it made hanging cabinets way faster. No more guessing or redoing holes. Really is one of those tools that just works right out of the box.

Man I feel this in my bones. I once spent an entire weekend hanging a row of cabinets in my garage using a cheap chalk line and a prayer. Ended up with one shelf that was a solid half inch lower on the left side. My wife still brings it up at family dinners, like "remember when Ivan's shelves looked like a funhouse mirror?" Switched to a green beam level last year and honestly it felt like cheating. No more snapping lines in the dark and hoping for the best. Your mileage may vary but for me that $50 was the best tool money I've spent in a long time. Just wish I'd done it sooner.

Heard my buddy Tim spent a Saturday redoing his whole kitchen after his chalk line let him down.
