Swapped my old jigsaw for a track saw on a closet build and wow
I used to cut all my cabinet panels with a regular jigsaw and a straight edge clamp. It worked okay but I always had to sand the edges after to flatten them out. Last month I needed to build out a closet system for a friend in Portland and I finally grabbed a track saw from the hardware store. The difference is wild, no more wobbly cuts or burned edges. I got through all 12 sheets of plywood in one afternoon with zero sanding. The dust collection is way better too, my garage didn't look like a snowstorm. Has anyone else made the jump from basic tools to something more specialized and felt like it was totally worth it?

That zero sanding thing is the real game changer. I used to spend almost as much time cleaning up edges as I did actually cutting the wood.

The real hidden benefit is how much less blade wear you get from running at that thickness. When you're not fighting through rough surface material every pass, those carbide tips last way longer before they need sharpening. That alone pays for any extra setup time in my book.

That "less blade wear" part really hit home for me. I've got a garage full of dull blades I could probably build a small shed out of (well, maybe not, but you get the idea).
