Unpopular opinion: that guy who told me to skip the primer was dead wrong
Last spring I was building a shed in my backyard in Portland, and a guy at the hardware store said I could skip primer on the exterior plywood if I used a good paint. I thought hey, he works there, must know his stuff. Fast forward 4 months and the paint is peeling off in big flakes where the morning dew hits. I had to sand everything down and start over, cost me an extra $60 and a whole weekend. Has anyone else gotten bad advice from a store employee that backfired this bad?

Ngl, I still remember the guy at Home Depot who told me caulk was the same as window glazing.

Home Depot guy once told me I could use spackle to fix a window leak. Took me three tries and a lot of soggy drywall before I figured out he was wrong. Now I just Google everything before I talk to those guys.
