Appreciation post: subject line with a question got 8 replies in 2 hours, but my 'no pressure' line got zero
Last Tuesday I sent a follow up to 22 people who downloaded my pricing guide, and I split them into two groups of 11. The first group got a subject line asking "Should I send the invoice before or after the kickoff call?" and 8 of them wrote back within 2 hours, while the second group got my usual "just checking in, no pressure" and got zero replies all week. Now I'm wondering if asking a dumb little question is a cheap trick that wears off, or if it's just good manners to give people something easy to answer. Has anyone tried this on a second follow up and does it still work, or do people catch on and start ignoring you?

Test whether they reply when the question costs them nothing.
