Back in the day, I thought a fancy email course was the answer to everything

I paid about $300 for a 'high converting' email template pack six years ago. The language was so stiff and formal that my first few pitches just felt off, you know? I finally ditched the whole thing and just started writing like I talk, which was way better for my small business. Now I'm curious, has anyone else bought a template set that just didn't fit their voice at all?

That "stiff and formal" language you mentioned is exactly why most templates fail. They sound like a robot wrote them. What specific parts felt the most off to you? Was it the greeting, the way it tried to close a sale, or just the whole vibe? I tried a canned "customer appreciation" email once and it sounded so fake I never sent it.

Honestly wonder if we're overthinking this, the_elizabeth. Most customers just skim emails anyway, so does the vibe really matter that much? Those templates might sound stiff but they get the basic info across fast. I'd rather save my energy for fixing actual product issues than stressing over email tone.

But @the_elizabeth, what if the vibe is the actual product issue?
