DAE still write short follow ups after a sales coach in Dallas said mine were "too soft"?
Three years back a sales coach in Dallas listened to my follow up call and said my emails were too soft, that I should push harder and ask for a decision by the second message. I tried it on 40 leads over two months and my reply rate dropped from about 28% down to 11%. A few folks wrote back just to say the pressure felt weird. So I went back to short, low key follow ups and closed two of those same leads inside a month. Turns out most of my clients just need a nudge, not a shove. Anyone got a follow up template that sits somewhere in the middle?
I can't believe your reply rate got cut by more than half just from pushing harder. Going from 28% to 11% off a coach's advice would've made me second guess everything lol. The part where people wrote back just to say it felt weird is wild too, like they took time out of their day to tell you to chill. Two closes in a month after you switched back says plenty on its own.
The "pressure felt weird" part is what gets me. I used to figure pushing harder was just how it worked, more firm equals more respect or whatever. Then I watched my own numbers do the same thing yours did and changed my mind real quick. Now I keep it short and human and let the leads come to me.
