I finally stopped rewriting pitches from scratch and started saving the ones that worked
I used to open a blank draft for every new pitch and just stare at it, which meant 45 minutes of fiddling before I even hit send. About 8 months ago I started keeping a folder of the 5 or 6 openings that actually got replies, and now I pull one up and tweak a line or two. My reply rate went from maybe 1 in 10 to closer to 1 in 3, mostly because I stopped trying to be clever and started reusing what already landed. What I didn't expect is that keeping the ones that flopped is just as useful, because I can see the pattern in what turns people off. Curious how you all keep track of yours, is it a doc, a notes app, or just digging through your sent folder?
