I was at a coffee shop in Austin and overheard a sales pitch that made me cringe

What exactly made you cringe about it? Sometimes a pitch that feels pushy to one person is just someone being passionate about their work. I've heard some pretty awkward sales talks too, but other times it's just a person trying to make a living.

Yeah, it's that canned, over-rehearsed feel. Like they're reading a script at you instead of having a real chat. The cringe part is when they don't listen to a word you say and just plow ahead to their next talking point. Passion sounds like a real person, a pushy pitch sounds like a robot.

I saw a video last week about this exact thing. This guy was trying to sell these fancy water filters door to door. He had this whole speech about minerals and pH levels, but when the homeowner asked a simple question, he just repeated the same line about "clean living." It was like talking to a recording. Spencerross nailed it with the robot comparison. You can tell when someone actually cares about the thing they're talking about versus when they're just trying to hit their points and move on.
