My $40 email swipe file saved a $3k retainer last month
I got burned real bad a year ago on a cold pitch, I was winging it with a generic opener and got ghosted after three follow ups. So I dropped $40 on a swipe file from a guy in Portland who runs a freelance writing biz, it had like 200 subject lines and opening hooks sorted by industry. Last month a prospect replied to my second email using one of his curiosity gap lines, she literally said 'ok you got me, what's the catch' and we jumped on a call. That call turned into a $3k monthly retainer for ongoing client updates and proposal drafting. Now I still tweak every template to my own voice, but having that bank of proven starters is like a safety net when my brain freezes. Anyone else ever paid for a template pack, or do you strictly build your own from scratch?
