My vendor's polite reply made me rewrite my whole follow-up routine
Last month I sent a vendor a pitch about a bulk supply deal for my shop, and their response was a single line: "Thanks, we'll keep you on file." At first I felt brushed off, but then I realized my own follow-up emails probably sounded exactly like that to clients. I went back through my sent folder from the last two years, and sure enough, I found six or seven templates where I said "I'll circle back" or "let me know" without giving any next step or date. That hit different because I always blamed clients for going quiet, but my messages were just as weak. Now I rewrite every follow-up to include one specific action item, like a call time on Tuesday or a question about their budget range. Has anyone else had a moment where a bad reply to you exposed your own template flaws? What do you put in a follow-up when you've already sent two emails with no answer?
