Overheard a sales call at the coffee shop that made me rethink my whole follow-up game

I was grabbing a coffee yesterday and the guy next to me was on a sales call, pitching his service. He was good, but then the prospect asked for a quote and he just said 'I'll email it over.' No timeline, no next step, nothing. I was practically yelling in my head 'tell him when!' It hit me because I used to do the same thing. I'd send a quote and then just... wait. I realized I needed a template that builds in the next action right away. Now my follow-up email after sending a price has a line like 'I'll circle back this Friday to see if you have any questions.' It's simple, but it sets a clear path forward instead of leaving it in the void. How do you guys handle the post-quote follow-up to keep things moving?

My buddy lost a huge client because he sent a quote and went radio silent. The guy actually told him later he bought from someone else who called two days after sending numbers to talk it through. That stuck with me, so now I always name a specific day I'll check in, like Thursday afternoon.

Honestly depends on the client and the size of the deal. For a small job, that level of follow-up can feel like you're being pushy. Some people just need time to look things over without a sales call.

But radio silent is the opposite of pushy.
