A 4x4 cedar post gave out on me in the middle of a job in Spokane Valley

It was a standard privacy fence install, but one of the posts I'd set just two days prior snapped at ground level when we started hanging the rails. I think the ground was still too wet from rain and the concrete didn't cure right. Had to dig it all out and reset it with a new post, which set us back half a day. Do you guys ever wait an extra day before putting weight on posts in damp soil?

Always wait a full 48 hours in wet conditions.

Remember when my cousin tried to set posts in mud and his whole fence line leaned like a funhouse mirror.

Used to think a day was enough for concrete. Learned the hard way after a wet spring job. Now I give it at least two full days if the ground is damp.

Oh man, this hits home. My neighbor rushed a small patio slab last fall and it cracked everywhere after the first freeze. Tbh I don't even trust two days anymore if it's been really wet. I'll throw a tarp down and wait a whole extra day just to be safe. It's such a pain to fix if you get it wrong.
