My auger bit snapped on a rocky slope in Asheville, took 4 hours to fix

Tbh I was pushing it hard through some clay and roots on a hillside job last Tuesday when the bit just twisted off about 14 inches down. Had to dig out the broken chunk by hand with a shovel and then rent a different auger from the local yard, which set me back $85. Anyone else carry a spare bit or do you just baby the machine when you see rocks?

Notice how everything nowadays breaks the second you push it past a gentle nudge, and the fix always costs more than the tool did. We all act surprised, but it's just the way things are built now.
