Never thought gravel depth mattered that much, then I saw the frost line data

I always set posts with whatever gravel I had left over, maybe 4 inches on a good day. Last winter I read a local extension office report that said 12 inches of gravel under a post stops frost heave way better than concrete in our clay soil. Now I'm second guessing every fence I built before 2024, has anyone else switched their base method after seeing real numbers?
