Old timer at the supply yard gave me a quote that stuck
I was picking up a load of 8-foot cedar pickets last Tuesday and an older guy loading his trailer said 'a fence that leans ain't a fence, it's a suggestion.' He was talking about setting posts deeper than the frost line even if the customer complains about cost. I've been cutting corners on depth to keep bids low and it hit me that I've been building suggestions for 3 years. Anybody else have a customer call back about a leaning section you thought was fine?

Skipping on posts is like undercooking a burger, you'll regret it when it falls apart later.

That burger analogy is solid @troyc17, but I gotta say skipping on posts isn't always the disaster you make it sound like. Sometimes you just gotta bail before you say something dumb, better that than letting it fall apart later on your own.

Idk, bailing isn't always a bad move. Sometimes walking away saves you from digging a deeper hole later.
