Pounded posts by hand for years, then a $95 driver in Bakersfield changed my mind
I always figured a gas driver was cheating and hand pounding was the real way to set a post. But on a 60 post job off Rosedale last spring my shoulder was toast, so I tried one. I got posts in straighter and faster than my old method ever did, and my crew stopped fighting the dirt. What's your cutoff for switching to a driver, or do you still pound everything by hand?
Bought a used driver off a guy in Oildale for 80 bucks and it paid for itself on the first fence line. My old digging bar is now a tomato stake. Shoulder still clicks when it rains though.
