Switched from string lines to a laser level on a 240 ft run in Wichita last spring
I used to run string lines for everything, even long runs, and just dealt with the sag in the middle. Last spring I was setting 62 posts on a 240 ft chain link job in Wichita and the homeowner had a cheap laser level sitting in his garage that he let me try. I marked every post in about 20 minutes and only had to shim two of them, compared to the 3 or 4 I usually fight with after stringing. The laser was off by a hair on the far end when I checked it with a transit, so I still string the last 50 ft or so. Anyone else mix methods like that or do you just trust the laser all the way?
