Watch out when giving fermented veggies to coworkers
I brought my homemade fermented carrots to share at the office lunch yesterday. One coworker took a bite and made a face, saying they tasted rotten and might make people sick. Others heard this and now they're all suspicious of my ferments. It's tough when people don't get that tangy is normal for fermented foods.

My friend Dave brought his kimchi to a potluck last month. Some guy tasted it and told everyone it was spoiled, which lines up with what @maxs15 said. Dave just quietly finished the jar.

Ugh, I read something about how fermented flavors often get mistaken for spoilage because they're not common in western diets. It said that tangy taste is just from the fermentation process, which is actually safe and healthy. So yeah, no wonder coworkers sometimes react like that.

Man, this happens with so much good food. People get weird about anything that's not super familiar or comes from a package. Same folks will eat boring pasteurized pickles but freak out at real kraut. It's like their taste buds only know beige and processed.

Seriously, that guy calling kimchi spoiled is just unbelievable to me. @maxs15 is totally right about people getting weird with food that's not from a package. I mean, it's like they're scared of anything with real flavor.
