Charged way too little for my first logo gig in Chicago last spring

Tbh I landed my first freelance logo project through a friend of a friend back in April. They wanted a simple wordmark for their new coffee shop near Wrigleyville. I panicked on pricing and said $150 because I was scared of scaring them off. The project took me like 30 hours total across sketches, revisions, and final vector files. I ended up making less than minimum wage when you break it down. A designer at a meetup later told me she would have charged $800 minimum for the same scope. That conversation convinced me I need to value my time better and ask what their budget is before throwing out a number. Has anyone else seriously undercut themselves on that first gig and regretted it later?

$150 for a wordmark is rough. How many rounds of revisions did they end up asking for with that price? Ive seen clients take advantage of a low rate and keep pushing for more changes.

A buddy of mine quoted $200 for a logo once and the client asked for 11 revisions.

Honestly @kai839, I started capping revisions at 3 and that fixed it for me.
