Hot take: My old boss said to charge my first freelance gig at $15/hr and I did it, still regret it
Back in 2019 a guy I worked with at a print shop in Dallas gave me that advice for a logo job, said I needed to 'pay my dues' and it would lead to better work down the line. I billed 22 hours at $15 and the customer came back three more times expecting the same rate, which locked me in for almost a year. Did anyone else get the 'lowball your first gig' speech, and did it actually pan out for you?
