I quoted my first design client $400 flat instead of hourly and it backfired in a way I didn't expect
Back in 2016 I took on a logo job for a bakery in Portland and charged a flat $400 because I was scared hourly would scare them off. The project dragged on for 11 weeks with endless tiny tweaks, and my hourly rate worked out to around $9 by the end. What surprised me was that the client never pushed back on the price, they just kept asking for one more round because nothing felt like it was costing them anything. These days I always quote a set number of revisions in writing, and I'm curious how other folks here handle scope creep on that very first gig.
