Just hit my first $500 gig price after charging $75 for months and I honestly didn't think anyone would pay it
So I do freelance video editing on the side, mostly little stuff for local businesses around Columbus. When I started back in January I was charging $75 for a short social clip because I figured nobody would take a chance on a total newbie otherwise. Last month a guy who runs a gym found my page and asked what I'd charge for a monthly batch of 8 clips for his socials. I almost said $200 on autopilot but something made me sit down and actually count the hours. It was easily 12 hours of work with revisions, so I typed $500 and stared at the message for like 5 minutes before hitting send. He replied in 20 minutes with a yes and a deposit, no haggling at all. I sat in my kitchen and just laughed because I was ready to do the same work for a quarter of that. I still don't have a real formula for pricing, so if you know how to figure out your rate without guessing, I'd love to hear it.
