Just landed my first logo design gig and I'm totally lost on what to charge
A friend of a friend in Austin asked me to design a logo for his new food truck last month. He knows I'm just starting out. I spent about 15 hours on concepts and revisions, but when he asked for my price, I just blurted out $100 because I was nervous. Now I'm worried I way undercharged for the time and effort. How do you even begin to figure out a fair rate for your first project?

Totally agree with that! A logo is their main brand mark, so it's worth way more than minimum wage for your skill. Honestly, even for a friend, five hundred wouldn't be crazy for that much work.

So you'd charge a friend five hundred for a logo?

You said you spent 15 hours on it. That's a lot of work for a hundred bucks. For a food truck that's going to use that logo on everything, you provided a real business asset. Even for a first gig, your time has value. I'd have aimed for at least three hundred.
