My $75 "get started" rate on my first gig cost me a $600 kitchen faucet job
Back in March I quoted a homeowner in Tacoma $75 just to get my foot in the door on a freelance repair job, and she booked me same week. She then told two neighbors I was the cheap guy, and one of them asked me to swap a kitchen faucet for $80 when my normal rate is $600. So I started quoting full price on the next call and lost that lead, but I want to know how you all set a first rate that doesn't get you stuck as the bargain guy.
