Talked to a guy who charges $200 for logo designs and I was floored
Was at a coffee shop Tuesday and overheard this designer talking to his friend. Said he started doing logos for $50 each about 2 years ago. Then he raised his price to $200 and actually got more clients. He said people trust you more when you charge more. Made me rethink my whole $25 flier design rate I've been using. Has anyone else tried a big price jump and seen it work out?

Is it possible part of it is just the specific kind of client you get with that price? My buddy does logos for bands and small startups and he tried jumping from $100 to $250 and got a lot fewer people reaching out. But the people who did pay were way less picky and easier to work with. Maybe that $200 price point just hits a sweet spot where you look serious enough but not too expensive for small businesses.

Yeah man, completely agree with @parker_webb on that. I had the same thing happen with my design work. When I was charging like $80 for a basic logo I got tons of messages but half of them were nightmares. Upped it to $200 and the volume dropped off hard but the people who actually reached out were way more chill and knew what they wanted. It's like the price filters out the time wasters who want to negotiate everything. Feels counterintuitive but charging more actually made the whole experience way less stressful.

the higher price thing is wild but it makes total sense once you see it play out. people really do judge quality by cost especially when they don't know much about design themselves. charging $25 makes you look like you don't value your own work which makes clients question you too. the $200 price tag signals confidence and experience even if you're still learning. plus it weeds out the ones who will haggle over every tiny change and waste your time. sometimes you gotta just rip the bandaid off and try a higher rate.
