That friend who said charge 3x my first freelance rate was right

I did my first logo for a bakery in Austin for $50 and thought I was rolling. Then a fellow designer told me to bump it to $150 for the next client. I landed the gig anyway and realized I'd been selling myself way short. Anyone else have a moment where you finally listened to that voice telling you to raise prices?

I mean yeah, I had basically the exact same thing happen with my first few logo jobs. I was doing whole brand kits for like $80 and thought I was killing it until a friend sat me down and showed me what other people with my skill level were charging. Once I finally doubled my rates I actually started getting more serious clients who didn't ask for a million revisions.

Honestly same here, I did my first few gigs for like $60 and thought I was hot stuff. Ngl, once a mentor told me to triple it I was nervous but the next client barely blinked at the price. Seriously changed how I see my own worth and I wish I listened sooner.
