Told my rate to a fellow freelancer and they laughed, now I'm second guessing everything

Laughed" is wild. Honestly don't base your worth on one person's reaction.

Oh man, right? I once got a "lol" from someone on a story I thought was hilarious and I spent the whole week trying to figure out if I was funny or just annoying. Turns out I was just overthinking it and they were just busy. Now I just assume everyone's got their own weird stuff going on and my jokes are probably landing somewhere in the middle.

Oh man, I feel this so hard. I once told a story at a party and got a single "haha" from a friend while everyone else just stared at their phones, and I literally replayed it in my head for three days wondering if I'd just become that person who thinks they're funnier than they actually are. It's rough when you put yourself out there and get radio silence or a little half-hearted reaction. But you're totally right, people are dealing with their own stuff, like my friend later told me she was stressing about a job interview and barely heard anything I said. I try to remember that now too, but man, that initial sting is real. Solidarity, friend.
