Update: My first logo design quote got me ghosted for a month
I asked for $50 to make a logo for a local bakery, thinking it was a fair start, but the owner just stopped replying after I sent it. A month later, she messaged saying she found someone cheaper on a different site and asked if I'd match their $15 price. How do you even come back from that low of a counter-offer without feeling totally devalued?

Maybe they're just on a super tight budget and that's all they can afford right now.

Budget can be a big part of it, but Karen has a point too. Sometimes people do pick the name brand even when a store brand is way cheaper and basically the same thing. I've watched friends buy expensive paper towels while complaining about rent. It's not always a money problem, it's sometimes a habit or a belief problem.

But sometimes it's not just about the budget. I've seen people skip the cheaper option that would work fine because they're holding out for a specific brand name they think is better. It can be more about priorities than actual money.
