Accidentally left cut flowers in the car overnight in July in Phoenix
I was wrapping up a wedding delivery last Saturday and totally forgot a bucket of roses in my trunk. It hit 108 degrees the next day and I thought they would be total garbage. To my surprise, most of them actually perked up after I gave them a fresh cut and put them in cold water for a few hours. Has anyone else had stubborn flowers bounce back from heat stress?

Sunflowers are definitely tougher than people give them credit for. That extra hydration in the bucket probably kept them from fully cooking inside the car. Good lesson that cutting and cold water can save a lot of heat-stressed blooms if you catch them quick enough.

omg yes! i left some sunflowers in my car last summer during a heatwave and they looked totally dead. i was so mad at myself but after a good trim and cold water they came right back. it's wild how tough some flowers actually are. i think it helps if they're still hydrated in the bucket even if the temp is insane. now i just panic less and give them a chance before tossing them.
