Finally figured out why my hydrangeas kept wilting within an hour of cutting them
Took me like 3 months to realize you have to cut the stems at an angle and dip them in alum powder from the spice aisle, has anyone else had that lightbulb moment with a flower you thought you knew everything about?

Wait has anyone tried the vodka trick for peonies? I swear my grandma used to put a splash in the water and they'd stay open for like two weeks straight. lol I was so skeptical until I tried it last summer with some fluffy pink ones from the grocery store and they lasted forever. Now I'm wondering if alum would work even better or if that's just for hydrangeas.

@morganl71 my friend boiled her hydrangea stems for 30 seconds and felt like a genius.
