Had to pick between wholesale flowers or a local farm for my shop. What did you go with?

I run a small shop in Columbus and I've been getting my stock from a wholesaler for 2 years. Prices are good but the flowers are pretty generic. Last month I tried out a farm about 30 miles out and the blooms were way fresher and lasted longer. Only problem is they can't get me exotics or certain colors year round. I'm thinking of splitting my orders 60/40 but not sure. What do you other shop owners do for sourcing?

Wait you said the farm was only 30 miles out? That blows my mind. Most of my suppliers are way closer but they still ship in stuff that looks half dead by Tuesday.

Thirty miles out and still fresh, that's practically unheard of.

Funny you should say that, because I actually see it the other way around. Thirty miles is nothing if the farm knows how to handle their produce right. I've gotten stuff from farms way closer that was already turning by the time it hit the store shelf. It's more about how they pick it and keep it cold than the distance. A good operation can ship stuff fifty miles and it'll still beat what the grocery store gets from ten miles away.
