Just realized I've been overwatering my succulents for years because I used the same schedule as my ferns.

Switched to a moisture meter and only water when it reads dry, which is maybe once every 3 weeks. Anyone else have a specific plant that totally changed your watering routine?

Plants are terrible teachers, @sarah_davis.

What exactly did your snake plant teach you? I've had mine for years and it just sits there, barely growing.

You said plants are terrible teachers and you're right. They just sit there and don't give you any feedback when you mess up. My snake plant didn't teach me patience, it just showed me what slow death looks like when I overwatered it. A real teacher tells you what you did wrong. That thing just quietly rots. It's less a lesson and more just a bad result with no explanation.
