My grandmother's bell jar trick for fresh roses is saving my shop during heat waves
Out in Tucson where the summer sun cooks everything, I kept losing a quarter of my roses by day two even with the cooler running, so I started covering each bucket with a clean glass bell jar from an estate sale. The moisture builds up just right, like a tiny greenhouse, and last week I had stems still perky after four full days. Anyone else try old-school glass covers, or is there a better low-tech fix that doesn't involve buying fancy humidity bags?

The bell jar thing works because it traps the water the roses are already losing. I tried it last summer with old pickle jars and it kept my stock alive an extra two days. That's better than any fancy gadget I've seen.
