The moment a client in Austin asked me to arrange sunflowers upside down in a bouquet changed how I prep stems forever
I spent 30 minutes trying to get the stems to stay put without drooping, and now I always strip lower leaves and use a chicken wire base instead of foam for anything weird like that, has anyone else run into a request that made you rethink your whole technique?

Wait, are you saying you flipped the stems upside down in the bouquet? That's wild. I've never thought to strip leaves for that.

Had a buddy who did this once for a friend's wedding. @taylor.brooke she was helping put together these big centerpieces and got tired of leaves poking out everywhere. So she just flipped all the stems upside down so the leaves faced inward. Looked a total mess at first but once she wrapped the stems with ribbon it actually came out clean. She said it saved her like twenty minutes of trimming per bouquet. Just had to be careful not to snap the flowers off since the weight was different.

Wait @taylor.brooke did your friend ever try the fabric glue trick? A buddy of mine was doing table runners for a cousin's wedding and instead of trimming every stem she just dabbed fabric glue on the ends to keep the leaves from poking out. Saved her a ton of time but she said the glue smell was strong for like an hour.
