Tried preserved eucalyptus for a funeral piece, it outlasted everything else in the cooler

I took on a funeral order last month in Cleveland and the family wanted something that would hold up for a long viewing, so I went with preserved eucalyptus mixed in with fresh white roses. Normally I steer clear of anything treated, but I had a bundle sitting around from a supplier sample and figured why not. Three days later, the roses were starting to droop and the eucalyptus looked exactly the same, not a single leaf falling. It survived the whole service and the family even took it home for a week after, which never happens with my fresh stuff. Now I'm thinking about using it more for sympathy work, but I worry about the cost bump, that bundle ran me $18 more than my usual greenery. Has anyone else had good luck mixing preserved accents with fresh stems, or does it end up looking too fake in person?
