Am I the only one who used to cold call every number on a list?

Back in 2021, I would just buy a lead list for my city and spend my whole morning dialing. I got maybe one appointment a week from that. Now I only call people who have liked my specific neighborhood posts on social media. The change happened after I tracked my time for a month and saw the old way wasted 15 hours. Anyone else switch their lead source like this?

Oh man, that cold calling grind sounds brutal. I read an article a while back that called that kind of list buying "spray and pray" for a reason. Tracking your time was a smart move, it's crazy how much gets wasted on dead ends. Switching to people who already showed interest in your area just makes way more sense.

Yeah, @anna_price69 is right about that spray and pray thing. I heard a podcast say you're basically just hoping someone picks up and is already looking. Focusing on warm leads from social likes is way smarter, it just cuts out so much of the noise.

Cold calling off a bought list is basically gambling with your time. I did the same thing for roofing leads back in 2020, bought a list of 500 homeowners and got maybe three conversations out of it. What really worked for me was calling people who filled out a "free estimate" form on my website but never hit submit. Those are super warm because they already typed their info in. @sagejackson is right that it cuts out the noise, but even warmer are people who downloaded a checklist or guide you offer for free. That little bit of effort means they actually want what you're selling.
