The post about using a timer changed how I work

I read a post last week where a guy said he sets a 25 minute timer for every task he does, even quick ones. I always thought timers were just for gym workouts, but I tried it on a property listing writeup and finished it in half the time. Now I'm using it for everything from calls to editing photos and it's keeping me focused. Has anyone else tried something like this for freelance real estate work?

Hold up, is anyone else finding this timer thing actually kills their flow? I tried the Pomodoro method a few years back and it felt like I was constantly watching the clock instead of focusing on the actual work. For real estate stuff especially, sometimes a phone call runs long or a listing needs extra care, and having a timer go off just frustrated me. Your mileage may vary, but for me it added more stress than it fixed. Setting a rough deadline in my head works way better than staring at a countdown.

I get what you're saying about the timer feeling like another thing to watch, but for me it actually does the opposite. The alarm helps me snap out of hyperfocus so I don't burn out after the first big task, you know?

The 25 minute timer saved my sanity when I was drowning in open houses and never took a break.
