Hot take: I think we overcomplicate tax savings for solo work.

For years I'd try to find every possible deduction, spending hours each week tracking tiny purchases. Last quarter I switched to just one business credit card for everything and a simple spreadsheet. I'm saving maybe $200 less per year, but I got back about 40 hours of my time. Is the perfect deduction hunt really worth the stress, or is 'good enough' actually better?

What's your time worth to you? I spent a whole weekend chasing a $30 deduction once.

My friend the_leo does that, wastes hours for coffee money.

That "whole weekend chasing a $30 deduction" thing is why I just pay my kid to sort receipts now.

My buddy spent three hours digging through old takeout bags for a receipt. He found it and saved like twelve bucks.
