Just ran the numbers on my QuickBooks subscription and I'm kinda shocked

I signed up for the $15 a month plan back in January because everyone said you need it for taxes. But I sat down yesterday and actually added up what I spent, that's $180 total so far. And honestly I could have just used a spreadsheet or even Wave for free since I only have like 8 clients a year. Did anyone else realize they were overpaying for software they barely use?

Used to be firmly in the "just use a spreadsheet" camp myself, honestly. I laughed at friends paying for QuickBooks when I could do it all manually. But after one year where I lost a whole afternoon trying to rebuild an expense report from messy bank statements, I caved and tried it. That $180 is now basically my "don't lose my mind during tax season" fee, and it's worth every penny to me now. Never going back.

True but @matthewking if you hate spreadsheets, $180 is Starbucks money for some peace of mind.

Respectfully, $180 for a whole year of organized bookkeeping that'll make tax time way smoother sounds pretty reasonable to me lol. QuickBooks auto-categorizes my transactions and generates reports in 2 clicks, which saves me a ton of headache hunting through receipts for hours. Wave's fine for free but I've heard stories from people who had issues with it glitching out during tax season, so you kinda get what you pay for sometimes.
