Pro tip: I switched from a basic checking account to a dedicated business account with a $10 monthly fee, and it saved me hours on tax prep.
Having all my income and expenses separate made my CPA's job way easier last quarter, so what's your best system for keeping things clean?

all the statements feed into one bookkeeping app" sounds nice but what happens when you have those weird transactions that don't categorize cleanly? i tried the dedicated card thing but ended up with random fees and refunds that still needed manual sorting. do you actually get to zero manual work or is there still some cleanup every month?

Absolutely worth the fee. I went a step further and got a business credit card for every single purchase, even a pack of pens. All the statements feed into one bookkeeping app. My CPA just logs in and everything is already categorized. Saves me a ton of time and cuts down on their billable hours too.

All the statements feed into one bookkeeping app" is the part that got me. I used to think that was overkill, but you're right, it saves so much headache.

My buddy runs a food truck and his whole life got easier when he started using a separate phone number for orders. It's the same idea. We mix everything together by default, work and personal, and then waste energy untangling it later. I see it with emails, calendars, even just having two different to-do lists on your desk. Creating that hard line, even if it costs a few bucks, frees up so much mental space. You stop losing stuff in the noise.
