Rant: The $400 bookkeeping software I swore by for 2 years just burned me

I used FreshBooks for 2 years. Paid $35 a month. Loved the invoicing. But last month I tried to export my 2023 tax data for my accountant. Turns out they changed their export format. Now my categories are all scrambled. So I'm stuck rebuilding 12 months of expenses by hand. Has anyone else had a tool they trusted mess up their yearly books like this? Thinking about switching to Wave or QuickBooks.

Two years of trust down the drain for a spreadsheet nightmare, lol.

Had a buddy who helped his wife with her small business finances. She trusted him completely with the spreadsheets. One day he accidentally deleted the wrong column and overwrote three years of quarterly reports. Took them two weeks to piece it back together from paper receipts and bank statements. She still gives him side-eye every time someone mentions Excel. They almost didn't make it to their anniversary that year.

Yikes. That export change is brutal for a tax season. Wave's been okay for me so far but who knows what they'll mess up next.
