Finally hit 50 tool bins organized and I can actually find stuff now
I spent last Saturday counting all the small parts bins I have in my garage and it came out to 50 exactly. Wasn't aiming for that number, I just kept sorting screws, bolts, and random brackets into those clear plastic bins from Harbor Freight. The big win is now I don't dump out three drawers looking for a 10mm socket anymore. Has anyone else tried labeling everything with a label maker or just use a sharpie like me?

You ever spend twenty minutes looking for a specific sized wrench that turns out to be right there in a bin you already checked twice? Man that used to drive me crazy. I started out with the sharpie too but after the third time my handwriting got smudged from oil I switched to a cheap label maker. The trick for me was printing the labels on clear tape so they blend in a bit and don't look like a hospital supply closet. Honestly the biggest thing that helped was grouping by project, like all the brake parts in one section and electrical stuff in another. Then I did a quick sketch of the layout on a piece of paper taped to the inside of the cabinet door so I don't even have to think about where things are. It's not perfect but I haven't lost an hour digging for the right bolt in months.

Honestly that label maker idea used to sound like such overkill to me. I was all about the sharpie life thinking labels were just for people with too much time lol. But then I spent an hour digging through a bin that said "misc hardware" only to find it was all drywall anchors and nothing else. So I finally caved and bought one of those cheap label makers at Walmart. Man it really does change the game when you can actually read what's inside without opening every single bin. Plus now my wife can actually find things without asking me every time. Still not gonna label the smaller parts though, that's where the sharpie stays king for me.
